Hospitals filled with unvaccinated patients
Nearly all of the covid deaths in the USA have been among the unvaccinated. Most of the vaccinated who are getting severely sick have previous significant medical problems. The vaccines are very effective at reducing severity of sickness but not 100% perfect. Wearing a seat belt in a car does not guarantee you can't be harmed in an accident, either, but it's wise to wear.
The death toll may have influenced outcomes in the November 2022 election, since most of the anti-vaxxers are Republicans. Anti-vaxxers dying removes them from the voting rolls and some of their relatives and friends are realizing they made lethal mistakes. Not all anti-vaxxers are Republicans but most are. In contrast, most national level Republican politicians have been vaccinated while they discourage their supporters from protecting themselves.
